Infusium 23 Leave-In Treatment, 16 fl oz (473 ml) Review

I first heard of Infusium 23 in the 1980s. A relative's girlfriend, who had bra-strap length relaxed hair, swore by this product and suggested I use it. At the time I was a teenager without a clue, but I wanted beautiful hair. I added the leave in conditioner to my regimen for my relaxed tresses, following a shampoo and conditioner rinse. The product made my hair feel sticky, dry, and brittle like straw. Also, I noticed my hair began shedding more. I was naive, then, and didn't think to attribute it to Infusium 23, since I had poor hair care techniques.
Fast forward 22 years later. I transitioned out of my relaxed tresses and embraced my 4a/4b natural hair. I was a newbie searching for a leave-in conditioner. Another natural with thick, luscious hair recommended Infusium 23 as a great leave in. So, I decided to give Infusium 23 another try, thinking that maybe the product didn't work because of my own past mistakes. But now, I was taking exceptional care of my hair.
I used Infusium as a leave in again after each co-wash and deep condition. The smell always reminds me of Lottabody Setting lotion. After a month of using the treatment, however, I was highly disappointed. Again, my hair felt dry and starchy.The leave in, my mane also became limp, sticky and after a few weeks, it began shedding heavily. Since then, I've stopped using Infusium. Now, the dryness ceased and the shedding has stopped.
I doubt the protein in Infusium caused this, since heavy protein treatments like Aphogee Two Step Protein haven't caused me any issues. I know this is a great leave in for some, and if it works for you, continue using it. It just didn't work for me.
